How I Turned $1.35 Into $55 in Pet Supplies (Stacking Rewards at Chewy)

Real example: I paid $1.35 for a $101 Chewy order and still earned about $55 in rewards.

Pet supplies can get expensive fast, especially when you have multiple animals like we do. Between 3 cats and 5 guinea pigs, litter and food disappear quickly in our house.

Recently I stacked a few rewards programs together when placing a Chewy order — and the results were pretty impressive.

I placed a $101.35 Chewy order and paid only $1.35 out of pocket. Even better, I’ll end up with about $55 in rewards for my next order.

How I stacked rewards to save money at Chewy

Step 1: Earn Gift Cards with Fetch Rewards

One of the easiest reward apps I use is Fetch Rewards.

You simply scan receipts from grocery stores, restaurants, and online shopping to earn points. Those points can be redeemed for gift cards from places like Chewy, Amazon, and many others.

Recently I had enough points saved up to redeem:

  • Two $50 Chewy gift cards

That gave me $100 in Chewy credit before I even placed my order.

Earn Free Gift Cards with Fetch

Turn basically anything you do into gift cards with Fetch.

  • Earn at grocery stores
  • Earn at restaurants
  • Earn from online shopping
  • Even earn by playing free games

New users get a bonus when they submit their first receipt.

Step 2: Build Your Chewy Order

I built my Chewy order and the total came to:

  • Order Total: $101.35
  • Gift Cards Used: $100
  • Out of Pocket: $1.35

What I Bought

  • 56 lbs of cat litter
  • 22 lbs of cat food
  • Catnip (because priorities 😆)

Step 3: Stack a Chewy Promotion

At the time of my order, Chewy was running a promotion:

Spend $100 → Get a $30 Chewy e-gift card

Since my order qualified, I’ll receive a $30 Chewy gift card after the order ships.

Step 4: Activate Capital One Shopping Cashback

Before checking out, I activated the Capital One Shopping browser extension.

This is not a credit card — it’s a free browser tool that automatically finds coupons and cashback offers.

At the time, they were offering:

25% cashback at Chewy

That earned me about $25.33 in rewards.

These rewards usually take about 30 days to confirm, but they show up in your Capital One Shopping account once approved.

Install Capital One Shopping

The Final Numbers

Item Amount
Order Total $101.35
Gift Cards Used $100
Out of Pocket $1.35
Chewy Gift Card Earned $30
Capital One Shopping Rewards $25.33
Total Future Rewards $55.33

So in the end:

  • I paid $1.35 out of pocket
  • I’ll have $55.33 in rewards for my next Chewy order

Not bad for a pet supply run!
